No Trump political dynasty, ex-president’s children lack charisma
Former President Donald Trump will run for president in 2024, but his children lack the “charisma” necessary to launch a political career and create a political dynasty, according to family member Mary Trump.
Speaking to Insider after the release of her new book, “The Reckoning: Our nation’s trauma and find a way to heal,” Mary Trump said all signs are now pointing to her uncle showing up again.
“If you had asked me if he would run again in December, I would have said no, because he had just been humiliated and would not get back into that position,” she said. “But things have changed.”

Mary Trump told Insider that her uncle’s recent behavior indicates someone is trying to rehabilitate his reputation in time for a presidential race. “He continues to spread his ‘Big Lie’,” she said. This refers to a phrase used to describe Republican disinformation about the 2020 election.
“He’s also now spreading the second big lie,” she continued. “It is because the January 6 uprising was not serious.”
The “most disturbing” sign her uncle plans to run for president, Mary Trump continued, is that there are “hundreds of voter suppression bills” making their way through state legislatures.
According to the Brennan Center for Justice, as of June 21, 2021, 17 states had enacted 28 new laws restricting access to the vote. At least 61 bills with restrictive voting provisions are currently under consideration in 18 state legislatures, according to research from the Institute for Public Policy.
“If Republicans in a given state can make it more difficult or impossible for certain types of people to vote, like people of color or students, then Donald might find that if he ran again, he might not be able to vote. lose because the system would have been rigged to favor it, ”said Mary Trump.
She added that her uncle is unlikely to compete in a race he doesn’t think he can win. “He is a coward and he will never engage in a fair fight,” she said. “He will only engage if he is convinced that by cheating, lying and stealing he can win.”
The now ostracized family member told Insider that a “legal risk,” particularly New York’s criminal investigation into the Trump organization, could both induce and impede his ability to present himself.
“Remember that he is 75 years old, that he is not in good health and that there are criminal investigations on him,” she said. “I hope something interferes with his ability to run but, if all things are equal, he will.”

As for rumors that some of the former president’s children – Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr. – could one day launch their own political careers, Mary Trump said she thought it was unlikely.
“The only thing that can really be said about Donald is that he has a kind of charisma that apparently appeals to … the people of this country,” she said. “There is no one else on the right who has this charisma, and certainly none of his children.”
Mary Trump said she believed her first cousin Ivanka Trump was focusing on other activities. “I think she and her husband are more interested in staying away long enough in the hope that people will forget how horrible they are and then they have this fantasy that they are going to be able to reappear in high society. New Yorker or something, ”she remarked.
Mary Trump’s latest book, “The Reckoning: Our Nation’s Trauma and Finding a Way To Heal,” was published in August by St. Martin’s Press.
